Does anyone use the qk ais receiver I was thinking of buying it to link up to my garmin 5012 gps and iPad what is everyone else using and what would you recommend
Thanks
I use a Vespermarine AIS transceiver which displays on my Android tablet via wifi and by cable on my chartplotter. This is what I would recommend but I'm not sure what that is worth really.
Yes, I use the Quark A023 AIS receiver along with a Glomex VHF Splitter and a stabilised 5v power supply, outputting via WiFi to Marine Navigator app on an old Android tablet. All works fine, and cost under £150:
Quark A023 £85
Splitter £56
Power supply £6
Total £147
The app cost about £9, plus another £15 for UK and Ireland charts
So I'd expect the NMEA version to work fine with your Garmin.
