Just as an aside (not wishing to hijack the thread) I found a copy of Swallowdale in Finnish (==Pääskylaakso) today for my kids, who are currently being read Pääskyt ja Amatsonit - you guessed it - for their bedtime story. It's a shame that those were the only two to be translated into...

Mine were from the ebay link in post #3. I messaged the seller explaining the problem - to highlight the quality issues really - and they emailed me back offering a couple of pounds refund off the original price. As I had got them both working by then I told them that there wasn't any need...

I bought a couple of these (on the strength of this thread), but unfortunately neither worked when I first got them. The "earth" connection from the circuit board to the casing was faulty on both.

The problem is really with the trailer, which wasn't designed for this boat. I have modified it so that the boat can be transported, but the boat is carried relatively high and therefore has to be reversed a long way into the water even on the steep slipway that I have been using. A heavy 4wd...
