Easy! The ugliest ship ever created, in my opinion, is the M/S Camilla, that sails out of Lappeenranta, Finland.

I expect its mother loves it though.
You are very welcome. I was out sailing this evening on my boat with a friend who takes part in local races on an H-boat (a kind of folkboat, co-incidentally another Hans Groop design) as a helmsman, and knows other sailing people locally. It's possible that he can find out more about the Lohi...
No - but then I haven't been looking. A search on two popular Finnish online boating marketplaces shows a few for sale:
Veneporssi has one
And Nettivene - which has an interface that can be used in English - has two here.
There is also a Joemarin version here a Joe 34 on Nettivene so there...
You are of course correct that they were made in Finland. There is some information here (in Finnish):

The original question is "What is the difference between Lohi 34 and Joemarin 34

today for my kids, who are currently being read Pääskyt ja Amatsonit - you guessed it - for their bedtime story. It's a shame that those were the only two to be translated into...
Mine were from the ebay link in post #3. I messaged the seller explaining the problem - to highlight the quality issues really - and they emailed me back offering a couple of pounds refund off the original price. As I had got them both working by then I told them that there wasn't any need...
I bought a couple of these (on the strength of this thread), but unfortunately neither worked when I first got them. The "earth" connection from the circuit board to the casing was faulty on both.
The problem is really with the trailer, which wasn't designed for this boat. I have modified it so that the boat can be transported, but the boat is carried relatively high and therefore has to be reversed a long way into the water even on the steep slipway that I have been using. A heavy 4wd...
Thanks very much for all the replies.
The idea of tying the boat up like that comes out of the necessity of keeping it out of others' way. If I were to anchor further out, then I would likely be blocking the narrow channel that the owner of the property at the head of the bay dredged to make...
