Are you trying to open the correct bit? It's only the very top that unscrews ie the bit with the red button in it.

Actually both ends unscrew, but the normal way in is to remove the switch.

Slight warning,
Have bought about 20 of these from recommendation on here, first batches of maybe 12 were superb but the last delivery has been hit and miss, hit meaning if you hit it against wall it might work or not, miss means it does not.
The first batches were given away as pressies to family, result everyone impressed. last batch for me, car boat etc is unreliable not what you want from a torch.

I had the same problem with the last one from banggood. Often needs a bang to get it to light. They have promised to send me another though it has not arrived yet. I think the problem is in the connection body to PC board. Still a brilliant little torch. good lcuk olewill

I also had a problem with one I bought from Banggood some time ago; it's a nightmare trying to get a replacment, I had to send them a video of it not working!
The ones I bought on Amazon were fine, as well as cheaper; this is why I suggested them on this thread. Also, if there is a problem, buying via Amazon gives you a lot of clout; sellers really need good feedback to survive.

Bought 2 x solar torches, five years ago in a petrol station. One on the boat and one for the house. Both live on shelves so they get light. My Grandson tested the household one last month. Stays alight for 6 hours and 20 minutes. Cost £5 Each.

Mine is superb but sometimes needs a little shake to get it going.Or I unscrew the top a bit and then back in and it keeps going.Not ideal but it's very powerful indeed and providing I don't mind shaking it ,it works.Not very confidence inspiring though so I'll keep other,different ones aboard as well.The ones from Decathlon are less bright but completely reliable as well as cheaper.

Possibly a bit of flux or grit on the contact. Unscrew the LED end and give the contact a wipe with acetone.

Out of 4 I've had problems with a couple like that. And gave a couple away so might apply to them all
sometimes would need a tap to get it to turn on. On both prizing off the tiny circuit board behind the lens revealed a little piece of solder rattling about, I ditched that, put the board back in and soldered a tiny blob of solder between the outside of the circuit board and the case. Seems to work every time now.
For those that don't need the problems I recommend the one pound headband type light that you can get from Poundland for wait for it,one pound

I bought a couple of these (on the strength of this thread), but unfortunately neither worked when I first got them. The "earth" connection from the circuit board to the casing was faulty on both.

Ive got at least eight of them only one has gone wrong and thats through vibes in my ancient land rover and it kept flashing at me!

Mine were from the ebay link in post #3. I messaged the seller explaining the problem - to highlight the quality issues really - and they emailed me back offering a couple of pounds refund off the original price. As I had got them both working by then I told them that there wasn't any need. The one that I kept (I gave the other to a friend) has since started to fail intermittently again; the problem is my solder link to the aluminium casing. I certainly won't be buying these again as a couple of euros more gets something just as bright but reliable.
