Just wondered if you had a reply regarding the "Perkins Peramo", like yourself I have paid a small fortune on rebuilding a 2003.

Can sometimes be bought from roofing companies who strip out a lot of old flashing. The idea is that you save them a trip to the scrap yard & you buy it at under the price the scrappie is offering.

Been laid up for a bit but would like to thank all those who gave me advice back in September on the subject of mounting an engine in a steel boat (with or without rubber compound mounts). Apologies for the delay
Building a steel sloop and have been advised to bolt the inboard marine directly to the engine bearer rather than use "rubber" mounts. Am I right in thinking that vibration (if not noise) will be problematic ?
I did reply to your enquiry about 2 weeks ago and cant understand whats gone wrong as there is no sign of my message. Here goes again, I have a workshop manual for a 2003, if you would like a copy (they arent that big), please confirm.
My own enquiries on the subject indicate that noise can be problematic but not an insurmountable one & I have seen suggestions that an extractor fan to push used air topsides will reduce the amount of hot air recirculating. Lastly Duetz advised painting exposed aluminium, hope this helps.

Heh! - Never thought I,d see so many bolt to sign up for the tightarse brigade.Id love to see if the partners ( PC or what ?), agree that so little cash is spent. I thought it was cards on the table time. Anyway full marks Steve for some interesting insights, I am not alone after all, if its for...
Many portable compressors powered by air cooled diesel engines have useful fan & ducting systems which not only pull in cool air but force the hot used air away from the cylinder fins. Good luck.
I am hoping to save a few bob by making a mast (approx 40ft) for a yacht I am building. This can be timber or a self assembly aluminium. The problem is that kit suppliers seem extremely thin on the ground. Can anyone point me in the right direction please ?
