I've had to do a repair on my grp side deck, about 6 inches in diameter. The fibreglassing has been done, just leaving it to be gel coated. But where it is ,the deck has moulded into it, a rough grip surface.
I have the clear gelcoat, pigment, catalyst and styrene in wax.
Any advice on how to...
I asked what people thought about an ICOM M421 as a replacement VHF a week ago and had a good reponse back. Thank you.
Since then I've been told of a Silva S15 that includes Navtex, which seems an ideal
solution on a small boat, and wondered what your opinion would be on that.
Cheers
I've got a very old fixed VHF which up until last week always worked ok, and has got me out of trouble occasionally. Now it recieves perfectly ok, but I cannot transmit. (Any advice welcome).
I also have a Swiftech M198 with 3 worn out batteries, which I imagine the cost of replacing the...
I have storage compartment under the quarter berth which is so long and shallow, it's not of much use. I think it would hold about 15 galls of water and have been told, because, it is enclosed on all sides I could have a single skin flexible tank made to fit.
I wondered whether this was a good...
It might be a leaking diaphragm on the lift pump which would deposit diesel straight into the sump on most engines. (Not familiar with that engine).

Just a warning.
I had to remove my stainless steel fitting on the mast, which houses two halyard sheeves and the forstay connection. The only thing holding it there was four stainless set screws tapped into the 3mm thick aluminium mast section. One of which when it was unscrewed half a turn...
My boat has an Small Ships Register No. on it, but when I bought the boat the current owners didn't have any information on it.
Is the a web site or somewhere you can find out about the number and would it be worth registering, or a waste of time.

SUCCESS!
I've found the answer, for anyone with the same problem.
I left them in coca cola for a day. No difference.
I left them in vinegar for a day. No difference.
I gave them to a friend who put them through his sonic cleaner (amazing thing for cleaning carb etc.) three times. NO DIFFERENCE...
Is there different qualities of exhaust hose? I think that it has to be lloyds approved , but what I was worried about was the flexability, (and cost). At the moment the system consists of a length of hose which drops below the engine and then rises to the top of the cocpit locker before...
If you look in the Yellow Pages for a Chemical supplier. You'll find one that sells Oxalic Salts. It's used in industry. I bought 5kg for a tenner, enough to last a life time. But do be careful its quite dangerous until mixed, as in don't even smell it!

Has anyone got any tips on how to free my mast sheeves.
I'ved tried plusgas and hot water with little satisfaction.
They are aluminium on a press in stainless bush, so I can't dismantle them.
Thanks in advance Paul.

I've just took the head off a mini petter single, in the first process of a rebuild as there was not enough compression to get it to start easily. (When it was running it sounded quite smooth.) One of the water ports has corroded nearly to the edge of the cylinder, but apart from that...
