    Elizabethan 30

Had one for 10 years-sailed very well. Suggest from photos that the keel bolts will need drawing and examined. Quite a few were home fitted out (mine was!).

    Retiring from yachting

Just given up at 87, wife late 70’s. Reason formula: (travel, from nr.Birmingham,+ maintenance) > pleasure. Still dinghy racing though which has reduced the sense of loss. Owned a cruising boat for 50 years but better to give up when you can hand your boat over in relatively good order than let...

    RYA Subscription Cancelled

I stand corrected, but my point still stands.

    RYA Subscription Cancelled

    RYA Subscription Cancelled

In practice I think the RYA has now become a quasi government quango. Totally different from when I joined. Then a small Secretariat was supported by lots of volunteers. We directly elected the Council and voluntary regional chairs were co-opted to the Council. Because the RYA obtained no...

Have an old Adverc (20 yrs+) which had a plastic connector on base and lead which went to alternator. When engine changed lead unfortunately went with engine and Advrc's new owners don't supply. Anyone know what RS plug fits and which wire goes to which terminal so I can make one up? Thanks in...

    Stuck at Ilfracombe

I would suggest a word with the Ilfracombe harbourmaster to see if he/she can find a stretch of wall, or a boat, to dry out against in the inner harbour. You may need to find a plank of wood to put your fenders behind and care will need to be taken to ensure your boat leans towards the wall...

Retired and fit - looking for a boat. Advice?

Well bought. I think will prove a sensible choice. When considering down sizing from a 37ft yacht to a motor sailor the LM 32 was top of my list. You can't beat a wheelhouse in UK climate and the LM 32 sails well I believe

    Paint Ccompatability

I have a part used tin of Int.2 pack top coat white but only a part used tin of Int.2 pack white undercoat hardener. Are the two likely to be compatible? Unable at present to test and don't want to order a full set when I have enough for projected patching job. Thanks in advance.

    ICS Nav 6 Woes-Any Ideas?

Unit working fine then suddenly stopped receiving. Suspect water ingress in "shark type" aerial. Remove and inspect, no sign of water. Reconnect. Display indicates RX when messages expected but no Navtex message displayed. Whilst trying to examine the filters in case set not to "no messages"...

Demand for marina and mooring berths soars in UK

Most likely the one that comes to us all one day; for some sooner than others!
