Do the screws for the transducer glands go right through the transom?

Just noticed this. I don’t think so, but the screws on the Zipwakes certainly do, as did the screws on the Volvo tabs.

Pretty sure the transom is around 10mm, I used 8mm grub screws with Sikaflex to fill the holes left when I removed the QL tabs.

I’ve now had a couple of trips out with the Zipwakes. First impressions with the system on manual are excellent, very easy to trim the boat both fore and aft and laterally. with having NMEA 2k connection I can repeat the tab settings onto my MFD’s data bar for easy reference. The auto clean function will be useful with the boat on a mooring (goes through a series of extend and retract once a day), less chance of fouling getting between the blades if the boat can’t be used for any length of time.

Not so positive so far is my experience with the auto setting. I found the factory settings far too aggressive (I have correctly entered my boat data into the system), especially for lateral trim. On a flat calm sea the boat ended up rocking violently from side to side as the tabs corrected then over corrected, Mrs JD was quite unsettled I’ll give it another go with the sensitivity turned right down but the system is so easy to use on manual that I’ll probably stick with that.

Glad your zipwakes are working well - automatic settings sound a bit violent
