Hi,

My sincere apologies if this was posted in the wrong category.

I have a Yanmar 2GM20F diesel motor on my boat, the problem is that the motor doesn't start when warm. The solenoid clicks but the start motor won't turn. Once I let it cool down it will work just fine.
Today when I had my hood/canopy up all night and It was probably 50 degrees centigrade in there, the motor wouldn't start. Once I took the lid off of the motor, let it cool for a while it started just fine.

Looking for solutions to this issue or if anyone has had the same issue and has some workarounds to this feel free to let me know.

I was thinking about just hooking up another relay that would short the two start motor + poles once starting since it works fine if you do it manually, would that be really bad?
Best regards

how about removing the starter motor and taking it for a check/rebuilt?
Looks like solenoid clicks and sticks when hot and doesn't do it's job properly...

would probably get more response in the PBO section as it's used extensively in older 20ft+ yachts. I happen to know this engine v.well as I have it in my generator.
