Windscreen wipers

for a screen of that flat rectangular shape, a form of pantograph might give you more cleared area.

Perhaps a used truck component ? Their motors are specced for really industrial use anyway.

BTW is your new avatar anyone important ? ;)

It sort of means something. Very cryptic so i guess only a few on here will understand;)

Searching 'pantograph wiper' makes life easier.....thanks.

Our boat has AFI wiper motors, like this

I understand from the previous owner that he had problems similar to what you are experiencing, i.e. noise and reliability, so he fitted "the best available".
The AFI motors certainly seem OK, fairly quiet, robust, have never given us any problems in 7 years although wet weather use has been limited as we try to holiday in dry weather!

I've just hooked up the self parking on them, (with the help of a couple of diodes - long story) and installed an intermittent wipe facility, care of a Maplin kit.

I have twin Vetus motors driving pantograph wipers. Nice and quiet with two speed, self parking and intermitant wipe.
you could check out A.S.A.P. as well.

No, i suppose i could try but they are quite new. Problem is, its about two feet from my head!

When made they a a bit tight with the grease and it dries out quickly, mounting them with a rubber grommit also helps.
I can switch mine on independently so I mainly only have one on.
