We are still thinking about Cherbourg since we are out of mustard and have a worsening moules defficiency but their silly supermakets will all be closed on Saturday it being 1st May and they don't open on Sundays either. Might have to skive off thursday afternoon, a day early, to get the shopping!

Where is Jimi going? That might influence our decision with the Jimi effect on the wind, not really into F9s this early in the season.

Rovinj on the Istrian coast, hoping we don't get a bora like on Saturday: it swooped down in a matter of minutes with gusts of 100 kph just as a fleet of 150 Optimists was trying to beat back to port...
mayhem galore but luckily no injuries.

Helping a friend deliver his new boat from Portsmouth to Falmouth. Leave evening Thursday, overnight in Yarmouth, then, weather permitting, non stop to Falmouth. Four crew on board should ease the burden.

Worst part of the journey (hopefully!!), is the six hour return train trip, with 3 changes along the way.

Moule out of season

Sorry to disapoint you, but moule are a bit small at this time of year, and the decent restaurants won't serve them. You can still get them - but the tiny local ones are not worth the bother! I think some restuarants are starting to serve imported ones which are much larger. Must admit I'm looking forward to some Moule et Frits - will have to wait for next bank holiday - doing the RSY Cherbourg Double on a Bene 477 - any one else doing it?

Any way I'm off to Plymouth this w/e to sail a Bavaria 38 - slight change from the old Victory! Weather forecast is North East - going East then Southwest Monday, nothing more than 15 kn. So Jimi's new rudder should stay in one peice.

Enjoy yourself whereever you end up.

Chris

Weathers looking good then for crossing the puddle. not sure where yet. I expect there will be a few boats going across. RORC are going to Le harve via needles and the JOG are going to St Vaast, so looks like channel Islands or Cherb for us !

Moody Owners Association - about 15 boats going to Cherbourg to arrive Saturday morning, leave Monday morning.

Don't bother trying to get into Le Grandgousier on Sunday lunchtime - its fully booked!

Have a great weekend, whatever you do.

Vounaki, greece - trying out the Sunsail beach club for a couple of weeks. SWMBO wants to learn to sail 'properly' rather than just pulling the ropes I tell her to, so we are taking full advantage of the childcare facilities to look after the anklebiters and she's planning to learn lots on picos and the like, whilst I try to remember how to sail a fast dinghy, and eventually, hopefully, we join up to get her out on the trapeze without too much marriage threatening conflict....

The scary thing is that she will probably get very good very fast and be beating me around the course by the end of the fortnight!

Roll on Sunday.....

Re: Where I always go on Bank Hols

Down the garden. Not only do I detest bank holidays as a stupid throw back to the days of yore. Yes I do own a business. But I see no purpose in joining the crowds of my fellow man all "enjoying" themselves. 4th 5th & 6th I'm on the boat though.

I wish you all some serenity for the holiday.

Great we can go ahead and make plans then!

Have a good time up there - has the ice melted already and do they have some daylight hours yet or is that only in June? /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Santa Teresa will be introducing my 8-year old stepson to the delights of mud-crawling on the Essex Riviera...

Boo Hoo. Count yourself lucky. I am between boats, Solitaire is close to being sold, hopefully, and the new one, Cornish Maid, is awaiting the repair of her rigging, and then in to Dell Quay for the dreaded pox treatment. So we will be stuck ashore with millions of others trying to get on to Hayling, where we have to discover how to remove leaky hatches. So think of us when you are enjoying the best sailing (probably) of the year. It will certainly change by the time the boat is cured and launched.

Guernsey grub at Da Nello's was fabulous. We hadn't booked, and turned up looking like a pair of grubby waifs, but they were very friendly and found us a little niche (despite the fact it was Saturday and packed 'cos of bizarre Honda power boating racing stuff happening). Great food, wonderful atmosphere and brilliant service. Had a rather fine Barolo too.

K30 wasn't bad either...nothing concrete to report on that front as yet...will keep you posted.

This message will self destruct in 5, 4, 3...

Time spent on a new boat even ashore is never wasted though, it's a sort of bonding process thing maybe! Last weekend was great sunny weather and we got a sail one and a bit ways Poole to Solent & back but then we spent Saturday in the heat trying to blow out the weed sucked into the loo inlet pipe that got all the way (18ft) up to block the pump, then when we got back on Sunday some inconsiderate stranger (not a club member) had dumped his boat in our berth and vanished without leaving a contact number or anything for the berthing master. I hope that makes you feel a little better......
