Which way to go?

Considering last night the options for Summer Hols and we plan to cross Channel to Cherbourg and then visit various Marinals along the French coast. After reading the Pilot I cannot make up my mind which way to turn after Cherbourg. East and cruise up to Le Havre or West and take in Channel Islands.

What would you suggest and can you recommend any good route guides?

Go West young man!! Visit Alderney and the smaller Chanel Isles. Portria and Triggiar in Britainy (Spell them how you like. I do. French might have a different way) Depends on the weather of course, but I like all the little places best.

If your intention is to cruise the Normandy coast, going east is easier tide-wise for the locks of the various ports you might visit. So Cherbourg is a good starting point.

Some time in August but not sure when yet. probably around the 9th. for about 7 to 10 days.

Duty frees

Don't forget that if you intend to bring back a full locker of booze and fags then you need to make sure that somewhere in France was your last port of call cos if the customs stop you and the Channel Isles were where you left from they could charge you duty on almost everything you've bought even if you can prove it was from France. Not worth the risk in my opinion.
