I have been using this for the last 5 years EXOL SHPD E7 15W40 LONG DRAIN VOLVO APPROVED ENGINE OIL ACEA E7 SPEC 20 LTR | eBayI'm aware of the various posts on this question but I just need a quick layman's answer.
I need to buy 15/40 mineral oil for my 2004 AD41P engines. Which make would be the prefered choice or does it have to be the exorbitantly priced Volvo Penta?
Not sure thicker oil is a solution to engine age or wear ?
There is plenty of VDS3 oil available at a range of reasonable prices . Any thoughts on the following ?
MANNOL 20L TS-4 SHPD 15W40 ENGINE OIL ACEA E7/A3/B4 VOLVO VDS 3 RLD-2 MAN M3275 4036021166445 | eBay

Meets the spec.

Nothing wrong with that and no one is forcing you to buy a brand that you are not happy with.I'd prefer to stay with company names that have some gravitas behind their logo. I'm not after cheap, I only need 23 litres. I can afford to pay for peace of mind.
Oils turn into anchor threads in terms of split opinions....except a subtle difference there’s some science to back claims up .For the last 5 years I have taken a project boat and systematically poured money into it to bring it to scratch, why skimp now?

Sounds like you should stick with Volvo Penta products if you would otherwise be stressed about the possibility of consequences . You can be certain the Volvo Penta oil is the right oil regardless of the source of its manufacture.
Bruce likes only the very best oil to fill his newly painted bilge with ?
While looking for something else I found the following Volvo VSA-3 approval for Mannol TS-4 15W40 oil.
