Hi
I am looking to put a Eberspacher heater on my Sealine S28 over the winter, looking at their website the S28 falls in-between the D2 and the D4 models

Anyone have any suggestions on which to go for?

The boat is to be used mainly between April & Oct.

Thanks

None.... the webasto is a far easier and simpler unit to maintain, work out fault codes and service every year without hardly any parts to clean the burner unit and combustion chamber.

I service and repair both systems, id favour the webasto unit any day, I can supply, fit and service them at reasonable prices, the initial prices are cheaper too, for an s28 a 3.3kw would be fine but for the extra cost if your winter/autumn boating the new 5.5 airtronic would be the dogs wotsit, fitting costs are the same whatever unit depending on number of outlets.

I'd give the eberspacher a wide berth too. had two now, both been a lot of trouble, See how many threads there are on this forum regarding eberspacher problems...

I thought the airtronic was eberspacher not webasto

I'd recommend anything as long as it aint an ebbersplutter.... too much trouble. I seem to have problems with mine on a yearly basis and they hate being run on red diesel.

Hi

I have a S28 and I fitted the D4 system in 2002 and to date have not had any problems. I do use my boat all year.

I installed heater outlets in the main cabin, aft cabin and one in the cockpit at the drivers feet.

I have also installed several other ebers on other boats and as far as I am aware none of them have had any problems either.

I got mine from the guys at New Milton, really helpful, drew me the layout for the installation on my boat which believe me saved a lot of work.

Agreed.
After exploring all the options at the Southampton Boat Show I fitted a Mikuni last autumn and I'm very pleased with it, I use it a lot and it has never given any problems despite running almost always on half power.
I fitted it over a weekend. The instructions were sometimes a little unclear but a quick phone call to the dealer always put me straight.

I've got a D2 on a 35' boat and it's not big enough if that helps. It will warm the inside nicely or the cockpit ok but not both at the same time. As suggested - you can always turn a D4 down but not a D2 up...

Thanks for the replies, I think I knew the recommendation would be the D4. I was just hoping someone could convince me the D2 would be OK saving me a few pennies:D

I will have to have a look at the Webasto as well.
Can anyone recommend a decent supplier of either the Eber or Webasto?

Thanks

Webasto - Keto Ltd. Poole - 01202 690900 - ask for Toby Hague - he fitted my Airtop 2000 and did a first class job. I decided on a Webasto after researching the market thoroughly.

Right I have now invested in a D4. Now for the installation.

I would be interested to know where other Sealine S28 owners have installed their heaters and where their exhaust exits the boat?

Cheers

Hi (Once again)

Despite what others have said, I have a D4 Airtronic in my S28 and I have had no problems at all in 8 years and I do use my boat all year.

As I mentioned in a previous post the guys from New Milton gave me all the info I needed to install the heating system even down to the size of the holes to be drilled for the ducting.

You don't say where you are based?
