Oi jetsetter, you haven't said what part of the World you are in /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif I am sure you are not in Bromley becuase it's lovely, SWMBO and happy infant on hols, me relaxing in the quiet garden with birds (not crumpet birds /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif) tweeting, a beer, logged in on wireless laptop (wishing I had a laptop dancer on it) and doing some paperwork, luvely /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Buy a wireless card for the laptop and a wireless base station to plug into broadband (base stations for telephone lines are more difficult to obtain but are available if you search)

They are relatively straightforward to set up.

My laptop also has bluetooth built in, which means I can use it with a bluetooth mobile phone with no wires or infrared connection - the phone just needs to be within a few meters of the laptop - for truely mobile connections.

When saying wireless, i am thinking completely mobile, as anywhere, on boat, in car, etc. I do have a bluetooth phone but not a laptop, i see voda are advertising some sort of card you slot in, i think to make it mobile, is that the thing i need?

If you want completely wireless, you either need to connect to a mobile phone, or yes, you can get cards which are effectively mobile phones that plug into the card socket in your mobile (they usually have an aerial that sticks up that is easy to break!)

Bear in mind if you use a dedicated mobile card instead of using your mobile, you have two sets of rental charges to pay, unless you can get a pay as you go version, which I suspect would cost a fair bit if you're forum surfing

My laptop is the Sony Vaio, it comes with wireless lan and bluetooth built in, very handy /forums/images/icons/wink.gif It connects to the home network or via my P800 with bluetooth if out at sea. I normally just use the P800 screen for this forum or e-mail, but the bigger screen on the laptop is better for porn /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Would that be the Sony/Ericsson P800?
Ihave a T68i and its the biggest load of junk that i've ever had(always used to nokia)
I have looked at the P800, as i think it would still fit my car kit. Is it any good, Pete? Are you able to surf the PROPER net easily?
Can it be used relatively easily for keeping up to date on the forum? I can only log on when at work, so if its possible then i could log on anytime!/forums/images/icons/laugh.gif/forums/images/icons/laugh.gif/forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Anyone else got views on any better phones for this sort of thing?

Cheers...

Alistair...
