Sat on the boat in Exmouth Marina (?) on Saturday, waved off some friends (also an occasional poster hereabouts!) who were going to Dartmouth. Beautiful sunny day so decided some sunbathing was in order.
Half an hour or so later the phone went and Robin was on the other end asking whether I could tow him back in, conked out about six miles or so from Exmouth.
Should I have said no and suggested he called the RNLI, no that wasn't possible, his vhf not working properly, only found this out later. So I cast off on a solo rescue mission and to cut a long story short several hours later had them safely back in their berth.
Now I swear that on the way back they were sat in their cockpit enjoying the sun and emptying yhe contents of their fridge whilst I was in the wheelhouse concentrating on where we were going and definitely not sunning myself, nor drinking cos a dive was planned.
Came back from the dive, dutifully passed over a bag of scallops, had a quick drink with them until a few minutes later their booze ran out, so I had to raid my precious stores to keep them going!!
Now maybe I'm being a little picky, but isn't it normally traditional that the rescued pass over goodies to the rescuer and NOT the other way round!!
Where did I go wrong? /forums/images/icons/smile.gif
