"Its only money II"
Funnily enough previous boat was "Its only money" /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Luckily (or not depending on your point of view) we are not at sea and therefore do not require tedious chats via Vhf to harbour masters etc. "This is its only money two requesting........etc. sounds a bit naff does it not, so totally agree with previous poster that it should sound good over Vhf as well as look cool on your boats backside.

Re: What\'s your boat\'s name

I hated the name on my boat when I bought it, but it has grown on me since. Course every one on here said they could not pernounce it, so rechristened it Mucky Farter!!

It's named after a town in Austrlia, miles from the sea.

Re: What\'s your boat\'s name

If your keeping the name it suggests that you believe your boat to be the temple of the beautiful Goddess Isis! Does SHMBO'd know about your other woman??

Regards.

Re: What\'s your boat\'s name

Had a boat once called "Doris 11" was forever being asked if I was Doris, stupid name. I called my current boat Delft as its Dutch Barge its called after Dutch pottery, I think its a really nice name.

Do you live in the Isle of Man, I have a business there. If you do you will have seen the new floating marina at Douglas, much improved from the previous facilities, and now plans afoot for similar at Ramsey.

I always liked "Naiade" which is the name of some greek water imp or godess or something. Stems back from a French exchange student that came to stay in teenage years - never quite got over that . . . sigh . . . .

Nirvana

"The meaning of the term nirvana, literally "the blowing out" of existence, is not entirely clear. Nirvana is not a place like heaven, but rather an eternal state of being. It is the state in which the law of karma and the rebirth cycle come to an end - though Buddhist conceptions of personal (non-)identity make these notions problematic. Nirvana is the end of suffering; a state where there are no desires, and individual consciousness comes to an end. Attaining nirvana is to relinquish clinging, hatred, and ignorance"

Apart from all that I thought it sounded cool.

So did Kurt Cobain and look what happened to him!

There is a trend around Porthmadog to name after Van Morrison songs - Coney Island / Precious Time / Brown Eyed Girl / Gloria / Into The Mystic.

Lots of good titles there to choose from. Maybe "Cleaning Windows" wouldn't work though.

Re: What\'s your boat\'s name

Yes I do and we are in the new marina, except they have'nt had a boat this big before so they are having to make a special berth for us so at the moment we are up against the wall which is not very suitable of course. Have to say they are being very helpful and nothing is too much trouble.

Where/what is your business, maybe I know you, send PM if you want.

The Ramsey Marina is on hold as they are building an even bigger one in Port st Mary which will be 24 hr access.

If any one out there is thinking of relocating around the North West why not try the Isle of Man. Have the daily Super SeaCat service now and also loads of flights a day from Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham, Blackpool, Belfast, Dublin etc etc. Beautiful scenery and a great stepping stone to Ireland and the berthing is cheap compared to the Mainland.

Re: What\'s your boat\'s name

Have had some boats with strange names but none were invented for a laugh. Sad that people give boats a novelty name unlike the days when they were supposed to last for years (maybe outliving the owner) and have a real character not be the source of a chuckle for a few months.

Re: What\'s your boat\'s name

We had similar discusions / arguments before naming my new, to me (personal import) boat. It had no name just a Virgina registration number.
Leaving the " VIRGINIA" and deleting the numbers seemed to me, simple and very economical on signwriting - not acceptable to wife!
Finally settled on " PERCENTAGE " as I paid for it by squirreling away a percetage of every cash deal I did for 4 years.
