I was hoping 'pony ' was in the sense Americans refer to Mustang cars as pony cars ( saw a new one today, it's the Goodwood Festival Of Traffic preventing decent folk getting to their boats and intelligent pursuits ) - so a Mustang Yachts racing job in need of TLC ?

Actually, whether Lakey knew it or not, there is a nautical slant to this subject.

On our boat, the vestigial piece of acrylic canvas that goes over the front of the stackpack and does up around the mast, is known as "the horse blanket". As in, "I'll lock the washboards, could you check the gas bottle is off and put the horse blanket on, please."

"Sail cover" is ambiguous, as it could refer to zipping up the top of the stackpack, but as you throw the horse blanket over the boom's back, do up the girths underneath, then button it up the chest and around the neck, it becomes obvious that the name fits it well. These days it is never referred to by any other term.

I knew it reminded me of something. From now on I will adopt the same, excellent.
