fuel injection needs electricity, and small outboards are pull start and dont have a battery for electricity. For a while that meant carbs had to be used on small outboards. Recently, manufacturers have intorduced a system where the first pull of the starter rope charges up a small battery, which powers the EFI, then the second pull starts the engine. I think Merc/Yam are doing this, can't remeber, down to 10hp engines. Can check on their websites

I wasn't talking 2 strokes, I wasn't specific as to 2 or 4 strokes. There are definitely EFI outboards below 40hp though.

Hi,
Thankyou for your thoughts.

Surely the company to produce a small injected unit would make a step change on the competitors.

I vision,
2, 4, and 6 hp light weight, quiet, fuel efficient and reliable units.

I feel it would be a win win.

Lots buy new,

Lots sell old,

All could afford to get out even if its only in the dinghy.

Only a small light, but better than no light.

Evinrude have a new 25hp 2 stroke etec (EFI) for the 2009 model year. Available in US now, just about to become available in UK. May be at LIBS I'd guess?
