Mine was remarkably reliable, wish I still had her now.Hmmm. I’ve got a Stag and I love it but I don’t think that I’d want to go out sailing in the boat equivalent!!!
I’d say a J92 is a bit more like a caterham; quite Spartan, bit cramped, very sporty,TR6 - J/92 S
It's quite a sporty boat - a joy to sail in 5kts of wind. Perfect for an evening sail with my wife. Looking for something bigger now...
The problem with finding an automotive analogue is that few cars today are as simple and bare-bones as a boat like this. So, while a BMW 318 might be close.., it's just too refined.

mine is the "S" version - a bit sportier than the regular 92I’d say a J92 is a bit more like a caterham; quite Spartan, bit cramped, very sporty,
& you can really embarass people on the race course who’ve spent a load more on far more expensive sporting machinery…..
You might have to include some tin boats in this, due to BLMCs penchant for rust..Sadler 32 - not same decade but Sunbeam Alpine, dropping to Singer Gazelle in very light winds. With a clean hull and cruising chute, Triumph Dolomite Sprint 16v
So what boats are the following cars:
- Austin Maxi
- Austin 1800 (landcrab)
- Rover SD1
- Austin Princess (wedge)
- Morris Marina/Ital (has to be MacWester)
