What a site!

Well yes, thats old wooden boats for you. Just think what joys those purchasers of new shiny craft are missing ...

Of course the emotional turmoil bits are missing, like when you've just sweated buckets making & fitting a replacement rib to find a plank is rotten also, you know, that horrible sinking feeling that the end is not, actually any longer in sight & another shed load of dosh & effort is required. But then you stand back & admire the sheer rightness of the lines, and just sigh. Contentedly. Boating eh ? Roll on Spring.

I recently had occasion to speak to John on the phone and he gave me such a lot of good advice and suggested so many local contacts when he could have done the job himself that I had to ask him how he made a living! He has also produced a checklist as a guide on how to assess a wooden boat for sale/purchase which is very comprehensive. It is available on request by e mail. A very worthwhile contact.

this guy is awsome.

what he doesn't know about boats isn't worth knowing.

he's given me good advice all the way through the work on the kingswift... reminds me.... i still owe him a coffee!

if you're looking for some good advice from someone who knows his stuff... this is the first guy i'd call.

definitely a recomendation from me.

steve.

Yes, nice chap. He certainly knows Hillyards inside-out, so he's the one for mine next time she needs a survey. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Not only does he know Hilyards inside out he knows wooden boats inside out. He came to value Kala Sona today and I found him very helpful and a mine of information. He showed me what to look out for and gave me a very good assessment of the value of the boat. I would strongly recommend him for either a valuation or a survey. Incidentally, Kala Sona is advertised for sale in this month's edition of Classic Boat.
