There is me - looking fwd to a great 2026 playing with my mobo on the river ... and I get news I have Stomach Cancer ... I have to look fwd to 2 months Chemo .. operation .. then recovery treatment that can be up to 1 year total.

Now I am watching the price of fuel rocket up .... even in the job I am in - I cannot get out of it ...

Now waiting to hear what #3 will be .. as trouble usually comes in 3's

Oh crap! So sorry to hear that. It's really tough for you to hear that news.
I hope it all goes better than expected.
Best wishes.

I met a guy who had the rule of 3 on his boat. If there were 2 things not working he would take a lamp out of the aft cabin light to maintain the rule.
Hope everything works out for you

So sorry to hear that.
It may be helpful to know that in 2017, when I was still a liveaboard in Spain, I was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer.
Radio and chemo, surgery, more chemo.
Still here and going strong, even if I have sold the boat and moved back to the uk.

Ops Manager who works for me - his wife is Doctor ... she had 2 patients similar to my condition about 5yrs ago ... they went through the schedule and are fine today ...

Sorry to hear that Nigel, look after yourself and get better soon.

Last weekend was bad for us, we had a guest staying over, she borrowed my e-bike and went out with my wife and her sister to visit a relative, they decided to stop for a refreshment but our guest lost her balance and fell over trapping her foot between the front wheel and the frame snapping her foot out the socket - off to hospital, later I was pressing down the recycle and there was a can lid went right through my finger, - off to hospital, the paramedic that was stitching up my finger was also the one that attended to the guest, he commented that he seen that our family came in threes, as he had just put 26 stiches in our eldest lad's calf after a mountain bike ran into him.

The girls never got their refreshment either, and the guest is now immobile for 6 weeks after surgery to put the ankle back together again properly.

OW !! Wish all to recover well ...

#3 ...... today my best tool decides to quit ..

Was testing to check I could lift my new pontoons ... one at a time ! .... OK .. she lifted but it was obviously not far of max weight. My HIAB is rated for 1T shortest arm .... 300kg longest extended arm ....
Pontoon is estimated about 450kg ... and I was using about 3/5ths extension.

Put pontoon down ... disconnected and parked HIAB on the truck bed ... switched off. Later when I went to switch on and retract the piston legs that support the truck - hydraulics are dead .. nothing when switch made ...

Will try and trace - see if any fuses ... but likely will have to call in specialist ..... problem is - I cannot move truck as its got the legs down !

An excuse to buy a bigger hiab to lift the smaller one and take to the specialist .....

Sorry to hear this, a tough thing to deal with but it sounds as though the prognosis is good. Wishing you a full recovery.

Can't you disconnection one end of the leg ram hydraulic pipe and jack/lever it up?

Probably can ... but truck is in a rough messy patch ... would mean getting underneath.

I've called my Trucking Co owner pal and he's talking to the guy who services his lifting gear .... for me - best to let a Professional at it .. I want to trust the gear as I'm using it at near lift limits.

Originally I wanted a 2T lifter ... but the truck offered was awful ... it had been a Motorway service machine and had a modified cab and flat bed .. losing so much area etc.
I took the 1T lifter as it was minimum I could use .. price was good .. its done an amazing job untill now.

It was really only a "get me mobile " temp fix suggested, so you could drive it to the repair shop.
