For a start you will need to take the sump off , the sump must be taken off before the timing cover so you can fit the gasket correctly. The boat was bought not running and turned out it had a broken valve, no idea why. The head was stripped and rebuilt with new valves and the turbo, fuel injection pump and injectors were sent for reconditioning.
The engine is out of the boat just now and it seems the timing is also off, this has not been touched by us as yet. The main crankshaft pulley dimple mark never matches the gear above it with the double dimples no matter how many revolutions are done. The larger upper 3rd cog does match as can be seen on the images. We have got a workshop manual now although not very descriptive and easy to follow with limited details.
