30 years younger? What difference does that make?

Personally, I hate the idea of going alone. (Well, not alone, as I will have my hydrophobic dog, with me.)

I think that the idea of going on an open boat around the Ionian is a crazy. But, if I had company....... So, how about it? !!!

What is there to do with Ionian sailing, that you could do 30 years ago that you can't do now?

Watching it was very inspiring, just amazing, at first I thought he slept in the bow section, but no he didn't and obviously cant put a boom tent

Cruising the Ionian in a Wayfarer

One of our retiring staff members (Steve), after many years of excellent service, asked for the loan of a Wayfarer for a year from the Nidri centre of what was then Falcon Sailing. Over a year he then sailed the boat to Crete, Egypt, up the Nile, along the Levant coast, Turkey, through the Aegean, and eventually back to the Ionian. He was accompanied at various stages of the journey by several of our staff members.

Sailed one many years ago round Corfu, Paxos and across to the mainland. Biggest headache was pulling the thing up a beach most nights- they are bloody heavy especially when laden with cruising stuff. Sleeping beside the centreboard case is not too spacious..... To be honest, I think a Drascombe with a small cabin would be more comfortable and practical.

There was also a fairly mad American guy called Webb Chiles who, amongst other feats , sailed a Drascombe Lugger almost all the way around the world. If I remember correctly there is a book called `A Single Wave` (which is a very good read) which gives an account of his voyages.
