VERL 27

Sorry, don't know about gelcoat, mine was painted some time ago with a 2 part epoxy paint type stuff. If I can get it undercover this Winter it will be repainted by something similar. Once I remember my Yahoo log-on I will join the Yahoo Verl thingy, but I must admit, I don't like Yahoo groups as an environment, I prefer Facebook (At the moment) unless they go too far with advertising. That would make me quit them.

This has just taken me down memory lane! We had a Verl Islander 32. 'Island Breeze' Beautiful boat, sailed like a dream. Just googled V.Islander 32 & there she is, for sale again! Shed a few tears. Noticed that the upholstery is the same! I did that back in '92/'93.

Good luck with an owners club!

Memory lane for me too...

Had a Verl 27 as my first "yacht" - moved up from dinghies and Drascombe Longboat cruiser.
I remember it sailing well; never did long trips in it as I was very novice then but seem to remember averaging 6+kts on a sail from the top of the Stour to the top of the Orwell...:D

Also remember towing some 35ft heavy displacement yacht out of Handford Water into a F5 headwind up into the Orwell - not bad for a 27ft with a Petter Mini 6 diesel....took us a while.....

She was called Red Streaker (maroon hull) and IIRR when we sold her she headed down to the Med.

Have fun with your Verl

I have a Verl 27. I am on the Clyde!

Mine is called Cloud Howe and I have lovingly maintained her for 11 years now.

I am aware of one other with the "Cloud" reference, but can't remember exactly what (edited to say "Cloud Nine"). It may be based in Troon. The Cloud verls I believed originated from Aberdeen.

I've been meaning to get to Troon for ages and see the other Verls.

I came on here to search for information on appropriate Gelcoat. Cloud Howe did not go in this year. I had saw the long range weather....!

So as ever I have a rush upon me to undertake some small gelcoat repairs before the end of the season.

If interested I could provide a proper website and forum for Verl users; I'm not a big fan of yahoo groups.

Whereabouts on the Clyde? I am at DRB on the Gareloch, having had to move from the Silvers McGruers yard rather rapidly!

Hi .. I've just come across this thread re. Verl 27. I've just bought one fron Kip Marina ... she's called "Huntress" and I would like to find some history about my wee boat. Cheers

If you want to know the history of your boat ask Duncan(Marina Manager). If she has been round the Clyde for long he will tell you all about her.
