Am about to fit a new toilet. The toilet was missing when I bought the boat. I understand that on the Jabesco I need to fit a vented loop on the discharge pipe and also on small pipe which goes from the pump to the bowl and has also to be looped up to the under deck.
Are these vented loops essential? The original toilet had no such vent on the discharge pipe but of course it may have been a different toilet type.
I ask this mainly because the vented loop ( I have bought one) reduces the pipe bore by a considerable amount ( from around 38 to 28mm) which would seem to make it blockage prone.
( on that subject I note that the old discharge pipe has a 'lining' of hard 'crud' almost 1/4" of an inch thick which must also have made the pipe liable to blockage)
The 38mm vented loop I bought seems rather slack fit inside the original pipe which may be due the end having been stretched over a fitting. I dont propose to use that ( cruddy) pipe but worry that there may another sanitation pipe with a bigger bore than the 38 mm one. Can anyone comment on this?
Also strange that a whole toilet can be made and sold for £100 yet the 2 simole fittings ( the loops) cost almost £40.
Thanks for the usual good advice.
