If Le Cam or aother non foiler wins or gets a podium place it would really be a major upset, when you consider the fortunes that have been spent developing the latest IMOCA foiling boats!
where are you listening to that ?Le Cam is such a class act, and it was nice to hear of Alex Thomson speaking of him with such admiration this morning. It is astonishing how well he is doing, at 61 years old, with his low budget entry in a 13 year old boat.
The conditions so far have not been such that the foiling boats have been at their best advantage.
Bar widespread breakages, it's quite unlikely that someone in a non foiling boat will be on the podium.
T YOn the Today programme on R4 I think.
i dont see why he would do that , with his new S course he is headed for the same position as Le Cam has been heading for , any further west is risking / heading for the no wind area in 24 / 36 hours , ( as have the other foilers , Apiva , PRB and Linked out ).. prob best hat he just keeps an eye on Le Cam and follows himAT has gybed and heading South with better VMG currently than Le Cam. Be interested to see if AT has to gybe again to get further West to avoid the high pressure.
2 of the top 3 boats are none foilers and the next foiling boat, PRB, is 50nm behind AT.
Apivia is coming..... watch out Alex.
