He has been consistently as fast or faster but he took the wrong route. He is the most dangerous opponent I think.
yes went far too far west but has closed the gap , i say Vallee is worth a watching as well .He has been consistently as fast or faster but he took the wrong route. He is the most dangerous opponent I think.
Interesting how many more miles Alex will be ahead maybe. JLC's 15 minutes of fame in this race are done now.so is Linkedout and PRB,, but Cam s the man , looks like he might just have a knt or two more wind than AT over nxt few hours,, interesting
also the Sea Wolves channel .I like the statistics on the Vendee site - gives an overall indication as to who will be in the mix:
Statistics - Vendée Globe - En
for sure he cant stay with him on a power run ,, but he could well get the opportunity to out race / sail him again yet , long way to go .Interesting how many more miles Alex will be ahead maybe. JLC's 15 minutes of fame in this race are done now.
thats tough ,, perhaps that would account for his 8 knts when everyone around him are doing 20 .Latest news: Corum L'Épargne, in 8th place and skippered by Nicolas Troussel, has lost her mast. He's about 250 miles from the nearest island of Cape Verde.
Alex really putting the hammer down - 51 miles more than the next best competitor in the last 24 hours. Wonder if the competitors are secretly becoming demoralised. I doubt it as there is still such a long way to go and anything can happen but it does put pressure on them to push.
Ouch. Bit of a plod to Mindelo. But better than waaaay south. ?Latest news: Corum L'Épargne, in 8th place and skippered by Nicolas Troussel, has lost her mast. He's about 250 miles from the nearest island of Cape Verde.
It's hard to tell from the data but I have a suspicion that Hugo Boss is a little slower than Linkedout and Apivia. Now that could be Alex being more conservative (yeah right!) or different wind seen by each boat. Or it could be that he's spent less time in the boat than the others and is still ramping up.
Time will tell but it's great stuff so far.
i expect AT is only going as fast as he needs to , as you say not the fastest over last 4 hours .Linked Out is certainly pushing it - been 2.5 knots faster than Hugo Boss over the last four hours and has just clocked the best 24 hour run of the race at 489 miles. Next was Hugo Boss with 12 miles less closely followed by Apivia. The foilers certainly showing their pace now.
With a 120 miles lead over Linked Out I don't think Alex will be panicking. In fact with the dismasting of Corum may make others reel it in a little particularly Ruyant.
Thomas Ruyant certainly has been flying over the past few hours. he has a long way to catch up but a long way to goso is Linkedout and PRB,, but Cam s the man , looks like he might just have a knt or two more wind than AT over nxt few hours,, interesting
