This new format is lousy! I thought ipc didn't have money to burn?

As a quick workaround, I've just added a new style which looses the pastel nature.

Scroll to the very bottom of your page, and bottom left you'll see a pull down menu, in that you'll find a style called IPC

Select it and see how we get on...Once I've worked out how to tweek it to make it clearer I will :)

That's a 100% improvement - thanks!

Snooks quick fix is an improvement but it does need to go a bit further.

It is amazing how the old ideas of testing and checking before implementing updates has flown out the window. Just a little testing could have prevented all this, but once again the geeks screw up.

Thanks for the tweak, a great improvement.

dont suppose, we could have self editable colours, again as I use to have a nice yellow black combination with the 2nd generation forum,

Agree. issue of the text being too faint has been partially addressed, but the general washed out appearance is still there.

Thanks Snooks, that's better

Yes, Snooks, that's a fair bit better.

Just as so-called 'young professionals' never consider that oldies - such as many of this crew - over 40-ish need to work darned hard to extract one voice clearly in a multi-voice/noise environment - nor would they wouldn't dream of asking - so also 'young IPC professionals' wouldn't dream of asking a spectrum of live users having less than perfect eyesight whether a new style is as easy to read and use as the older one..... and whether same users are likely to choose the new flavour in preference to the old.

Naivety, lack of practice in using 'the noddle', or self-centred arrogance? Anyway, tweak away. We're watching.....

Oh, and I really like the 'auto-saved' feature. Time and again I've lost a post, an explanation, a reply in detail to someone's question by inadvertently closing the wrong tab or some other 'fyngrtrubl'... and been swearing at the moon for the rest of the evening. Is this akin to the feature in the new Gmail, which auto-saves as one types?

And, please, rather more than rather less smilies, please. Sure, it's a time of austerity, but pulleez! And a wee bit larger for us focally-challenged 'uns. You know you can..... ;)

Everyone, try holding down control (CTRL) on your keyboard and scrolling the mouse button. This zooms in and worked for me. For some reason it also didn't zoom other pages which is new to me, maybe someone knows why this is but right now I'm just happy the forums are readable with my 20:20 vision again!

OK, as it stands I've, got rid of the wishy washy colours and made the post font bigger (up to 14), and it should all be blackest of black now which should hopefully will make it easier for everyone to read.

If you do notice anything funny, try reloading the page after a minute or so. I'm no IT tech, so it's all a bit trial and error...and you are my Guinea pigs :D

I've been trying to find a way of increasing the size of the username on posts, no joy yet....But I'll keep at it :)

It is getting better but the whole process shows just how arrogant those who implemented it are. In the present financial climate one would have thought that IPC would have wanted to keep the punters onside, clearly customer satisfaction was not at the top of the list for the implementation of this change

As Natalie has said, the change was for security and stability, something that had to be implemented.

I'm working on the readability because I thought something should be done as an interim measure until we can hopefully get a proper fix from IT

I appreciate that now we are all pissed off that there is some consideration of our point of view, but your comment does actually reinforce the view the so called upgrade was driven by the geeks with no regard for the users. Security and stability is of sod all use if it gives your users a headache as he original implementation did for me.

Which is why I'm doing something about it. :)

Which is quite clearly why we appreciate your actions. That does not stop us being pissed off by the arrogance of those who implemented the changes in the first place. Some very simple testing would have exposed the very **** readability of the original implementation of the so called upgrade. The reality that you were easily able to change the situation actually exposes the very poor choices made by the IPC implementation team. Considering the implementation of digital versions of the magazine should one be surprised

Oh please do get off your high horse.

Any organisation worth their salt will implement upgrades to white-label applications as and when they are issued. This is normal.

It is also sensible to go with the default settings of a bulletin board application used globally. The fact that it is customisable by IPC is a great benefit, and IPC are being very customer (not that much money is changing hands here) focussed in reacting promptly to some criticism.

Arrogance would be to say "stuff it - you can like it or lump it".

It would also be a way to describe those who are rude and insensitive to those doing their best to help....
