Thinking of re-engining my Corniche

CAMSO as Learner wud say

Nick, I tend to agree all the other replies, although of course the £20k is your own money and you are free to spend it on whatever you want :-) Boat money spend is never rational so why try to get rational now about spending money on engines?

But just as matter of interest, how many hours do the old motors havvonem?

I know i bang on about this, but form a syndicate. Own half a brand newish boat and use it every second week, instead of owning 100% of an older boat and using it...ahem.. every second week. Sell the Corniche, save the new motor 20k, and you'll have 50% of a phantom 38, 40 or 42, perhaps a 2002ish boat. I have half the new squaddie and have no interest in paying £350k for the other half, ta very much, cos I dont need or want it. You know it makes sense! Seriously, think about this, it's the way to go. All imho :-)

Can get you a set of D3s cheaper than that Can get you D4s for ceaper also plus you will have your engines left to sell.

Re: CAMSO as Learner wud say

Have you found yer new boat yet? Is it still lost somewhere on the M25. Which half have you bort, port or starboard, front or back? Who owns the engines? ;-))

Re: CAMSO as Learner wud say

My engines have 1100 hrs and from what I have found out should not need major work until 2500 or so at least.....

The syndicate idea is clearly a good one and works well for many, yourself included. I certainly will never say never on the subject but at the momment it suits our lives with our two young girls to treat the boat as not just a boat but also an on water retreat. We keep stuff on board and its nice just to pop down for an afternoon, day or weekend without always having to plan ahead.

To be fair if the right opportunity presented itself we would possibly consider it one day but not just yet.

I think the plan is to keep the boat going for the next couple of years, work hard and then trade up....which makes new engines seem a bit daft and some have told me that I can get a bit worked up about these things :o).

As ever this forum has proved to be an excellent sounding board and has really made me think carefully about what to do next rather than my usual jump.

I will report back with the engineers findings asap.....

Nick (Now feeling much better about my engines!)

Re: CAMSO as Learner wud say

Hmmm think with the problems that you are experiencing and the known troubles wit that engine I would not take it out too far or for too long.

Heard of a few of those donks blowing up around the 1100 hours mark

CAMSO as Learner wud say

What on earth is 'Camso', I have just wasted an hour of my life not working that one out !! Put me out of my misery.

Why is you and I are the only peeps who believe in MoBo syndicate ownership?

It IS the future...biggger boats, limited berths.... in other words I have failed to find even one other partner for the Bora... at this rate I'll have to buy it myself which is stupid for the amount I'll use it.

Learner, you got Alzheimers?

Cripes Learner you're losing your memory mate. You, yes you, coined Camso in a post not more than couple of days ago, in the Bora syndicate thread. Camso, as in Camra. Ring any bells? You need a holiday mate :-)

On shite.. CAMSO is the real thing!

I remember Now:-

Campaign for Syndicate Ownership ... = CAMSO ..... yes come on Nick , you and Joanne would love it....

What or who is Alzheimer.....?

Holiday required . Somewhere Grey and Cold... Have to visit UK soon. ( Bit dim seeing I've just been there for 3 days - that is probably the problem)

When are you going to post what it's like to have a new gin palace with non-matching curtains ? .. have the delivery crew hit any buoys? Is poor JonT's new boat to be winched aboard as a Braveheart tender? Is it true than Emma has in fact defected to you resulting in TCM putting out a contract?

( Sorry , I saw Eastenders today)
