Following on from the Things that get on your nerves post, I thought it apt to find out what makes people happy and try and bring a little light into this political correct, neo facist, bankrupt little world of ours.
I enjoy the fact that 90% of other boat owners are friendly and will go out of thier way to help a little. Taking yesterday as a case in point. I took the boat out yesterday with a friend who has no experience in sailing at all but woud like to learn. Making ready to come out of the finger berth and the man in the boat infront of us, put his paper down and came over and asked us if we'd like a hand coming out. brilliant! Got to the lock and kept ourselves rigged starboard side to under the advice of the lockmaster. Got into the lock and the boat to starboard (a tripper boat) had no cleats at all, so it was a bit of a mad rush trying to get the lines over the other side at which point i started to get a little flustered as i was trying to organise what was going on on the boat, what my inexperienced crew member was doing and was she safe, where the boat was going and most of all who looked most approachable to a little 26ft yacht, with a 21 year old helm with little to no idea with what he was going to do. Thank god a voice rose up, "over here if you want". Excellent. The owner of the boat we tied up to was really pleasant and realised i was a little over excited and managed to calm me down a little with a well timed pleasentry.
Oh and black pudding sarnies with tomato ketchup!
