Has certainly piqued my interest, especially after reading an awful criticism by a German geographer.

First, though, I've been rather more intrigued by his history of football chants 'Dirty Northern B#######' so just downloaded that. Geopolitics will follow......:)

For a layman like myself his books seem a good starting point…………..

Me too. Literally bookmarked for a later read, all available on kindle.

Just finished 'The Full English' a travelog retracing JB Priestlys trip prior to WW2. I learnt a lot about middle England, someplace I've driven through plenty but never stopped. Having slightly overdosed on Mick Herron (Slow Horses etc) the real world beckoned. Although I'm currently sidetracked on a book about the US invasion of Iwo Jima based on the writings of Marine Corps correspondents embedded in the assault forces.

Every day a school day.

Thereisachapter dedicated to Spain so we can judge how good his observations are
Excellent series. Lots to learn there, the author is well informed, has done his research and is presenting facts, not preaching.

I would recommend them. I'm sure there are some errors but certainly no theorising or tub thumping.
