The Olympic Flame

To follow on from the other threads about behaviour etc....at Pwllheli there is a Council owned 'patrol boat'. It is a high powered speedboat all decked out like a Police vehicle, reflective stripes, sirens etc, designed to patrol the local waters, in particular the restricted areas where swimmers/bathers are.

It reminds me very much of the Olympic flame - it never goes out.

No wonder there is chaos on the water.

We could volunteer to man it for the council, similar to the voluntary patrol in Portsmouth Harbour. What do you reckon?

You are right, I often walk past it an wonder what the point is. They have a similar Jet Ski in Abersoch too - that is out a lot in the summer.

The only time I saw patrol boat out last year (not seen it move yet this season, well it has moved berths a few times) was on the weekend of that Honda Formula 4 race thingy...it seemed to have a lot of council types on it then...I wonder why??

I suspect that...

...come season 2005 it will get a lot of use pulling in and out of peaceful anchorages putting this breathalyser nonsense into vigorous action.
