I have come up with a very simple answer to the old argument of wash near yachts.

If i see a motor boat coming towards me at spedd i get my catapult and something nasty ready...if i miss them then they are far enough away..if not..they get a little reminder not to do it again.

I think that after a while this will work and we can all live in perfect harmony...what do you say...???

Ah..that won't work you see....I own a classic plastic yacht that i use a lot and therefore am not always cleaning and polishing it like you lot do....so all i will do is simply get a bucket of sea water and flush it away..but i guess you will all turn around and scurry for the nearest marina so you can get fresh water on to you boat and scrub the gelcoat away...there is nothing like a good old argument on here to fill a boring day at work..!!!

Or you run out of fuel...or need to wash the salt off you topsides...or need to get to a marina to plug your hairdryer in..or get to the nearest chandlery so you can buy the latest colour cordinated jackets and t-shirts with your boats pic on them....

I think i can stand it for longer than you can..!!!

True, but don't get on a downer 'cause as you said

1 you don't wash - yup - all raggies are the same

2 you never use a hair dryer - also true - you also never use any other impliment to make yourselves look presentable

3 True - we never see you lot buying any new clothes (also see point 1 above)

4 yup, also true - you could stand it for longer than me - that's because there is no room to sit down in your raggie affairs. We'll be sitting down on our supple leather sofas.

want some more?

I go to sea to enjoy the sea and sailing..what's the point of taking your living room onto the water...can't see the point myself.

AHH the ranting of yet another “half a pint of you weakest lager barman” club room sailors. Who in common with their usual lack of seamanship and navigational skills, has drifted on to the wrong forum and got mixed up with the grown ups.
Full of the misguided confidence that appears to come as soon as he hoists a tea towel over his head. He feels that he can change the world by use of his Stone Age reflex actions that so adequately reflect the level of both his intelligence and his maritime technology.

Far from solving problems he invites either a criminal damage case or an extended stay in the local ICU on his return to dry land (if he’s able to find it), either of which I’d be more than happy to supply should we ever meet.

A word of advice, to our semi mobile floating obstacle. If you really cant stand the movement of a boat on the high seas. Which by the way you don’t own. Sell the floaty thing and buy a caravan. Then you can join the throngs of retarded driveway layers cluttering up the countryside and motorways with their assorted scrap heaps. Here you will find true happiness, as you will have at last encountered beings of your own minuscule IQ.

To my fellow forum users. I would ask you to consider MIKE_02’s rantings as yet another example of the folly in our educational policy of introducing the cretinous element of our society to the wonders of the Internet rather than preparing them for a useful working life.

What do you mean the sea gull in front's walking !!!

What's the name of your boat, Mike? You may just be making the mistake of thinking all motor boaters are nice, patient, tolerant people who suffer fools. I'm not any of those things.

I feel a battle coming on here.

I think you have missed one point here. You say about the movement of a boat on the open sea. I have no problems with any kind of wave that may be encountered in the open sea in the channel but i do not call the solent or the hamble or portsmouth harbour the open sea.

Last sunday counted 14 motor boats of all shapes and sizes passing my mooring in porstmouth harbour and they were all either on the plane or leaving white water behind in their wake.

And before you ask i am very experienced in driving motor boats..ribs...outdrives..etc.

As to some of the other post here about wondering what all the fuss is about...the reason why so many of us SAILORS complain about motorboats is not mainy about the wash.

It is a very simple fact that it is very very dangerous to come that close at that speed to a slower moving vessel.

I wish i had the answer but i don't ..so what i try to do is to inject a little humor into it.

I have tried many times to get one or more of the mags to take a group or yachties and a group of motor boates and make them swap over so they can see exacty what it's like for the other...but as yet i have had no reply.

I will close (you will be glad to know) with a simple question..

If you were doing 6 knots somwhere and you saw a very large white boat coming straight for you stern on exactly the same course as you....what would you think...??

Have that thought in your mind if you wish to reply...?

Well I'd think. I'd better get out of the way sharpish!!
But thats not what its about.
Might have some sympathy for your problem, but we are not answerable for every boat that you encounter and in your estimation, going to fast/slow/close/faraway. Why do we have to listen to your insecent whinging??

Probably worth buying a copy of YM this month in that case (can't remember which page it's on). And I don't even work for the mag!

I'm with Hadyn on this, I know that I do the most I can to avoid being a nuisance to other peeps afloat, but I do get sick of reading all about it on this forum, our boats go quickly and make a wash, saily boats zig zag everywhere, so lets just live with eh?

Here endeth the matter (Although I suspect not).
