Yup that'll do. Who did Bart's burgee?

I purchased the burgee from hlb ( I think it was the last one he had) unstitched two sides and removed the black string, sent it off to an embroiderer to have the FDC wording added. When it came back, I stitched up the two sides and hand sewed the nylon string and wooden toggle to the hoist side with whipping line.

Sorry.........but I am not doing that for everyone on the Forum!!

I ordered the one from ensign flag, in the link earlier in the thread.

They are stitched and they have wooden toggles. Very nice burgees.

Would suggest that rather than reinventing the wheel that people try the new supplier and see what they think. What is important surely is that everyone recognises the burgee and knows how to get it.

The one thing that could be done to make life easier would be a sticky locked thread with the details of the new supplier so that everyone who wants to get one knows where to go to rather than faces the delay of having one person sitting on stock or unfilled orders.

At one time, you could have anything you wanted, written on the burgee. I had Mucky Farter. But it became to difficult to keep it up.

I was only asking if they were still bought, I did not expect abuse for what you all chose and the method of payment that was agreed to.

Boatone did the design. TCM made the rules. I just happened to have an embroidery bloke next door to a house I was renovating. The price revolves around the amount of stiches needed for the design, so Henrys idea would have made it two or three times the cost.

Ok for Henry maybe.

I have not given you any abuse.

I have merely explained to Mike what I did when I made a "on off" special to give to Bart to commemorate his hosting of the FDC.

FWIW I fly the burgee I purchased from you when on the boat.

Don't worry, Haydn is doing his grumpy northerner act. They're all like that up there. It's the bad weather and lousy beer that does it:D:D

This is up there with what type of anchor !

As Haydn says it's not ybws flag so it's up to you guys to decide what's what.

However I am happy to look at a refresh and maybe just maybe take over the sale and distribution ...

But that's up to you guys as to whether you want us to interfere

Cheers

I never said that you did. My only irritation is with Henry. The flag has been around for twelve or fourteen years, it was very popular.

It was designed by the forum and belongs to the forum. The rules can be changed by the forum or the design can be altered.

It is your flag, do what you want with it. I was only ever the provider by luck or was it unlucky..

MBY never wanted the involvement with the flag and rightly so, it was ours, not there's. Nothing in the rules says that Henry can not sell his flag.

I am the retired flag man, it looks like from Henry that I did it all wrong. Henry just do it your way. It does not matter to me now.

Haydn.

Re-read my posts. Not what you think I wrote but what I actually wrote.

I have paid you compliments, been polite and friendly. Nowhere have I said or implied you did anything wrong, in fact quite the opposite.

If changes in technology and some outside assistance mean we can make a stronger statement for no more than the current £24 then why not let's have a look.

I've got some ideas but the final decision is not up to me. If it needs someone to pony up the cash to order a few at a time and MBY doesn't want to then yes, I am not averse to digging my hand into my pocket and we can host the finished item so it is easy to get hold of. I'm neither a graphic designer nor a flag specialist although I did spend 5 years at art college and studied design. The main thing I learned was to view things from a distance.

Henry :)

I would like a Chinese made printed clone version of it please Henryf, can you aim for a target price of around £2 inc P&P, I'll take a few, so I can replace as they wear out.

I'll put it high up on the radar arch, don't think people will notice its printed.

Thanks!

Henry and Richard. As said, it is the forums flag. As said I have retired after many years service. Up to now it has been our flag, not MBY's. The flag sales reduced over the years and became only a trickle, so became difficult to organise, besides my health situation changing. Henry your views seem to change with the wind. Change it, or do some thing, Richard has given you an offer.

The original ethos of the flag, was that you had to be sincere and not just showing off. Hence slightly difficult to obtain.

We had no other way of doing it. There was never a profit or amount of sales motive. Some folk were actually refused.

So Henry it is up to you, the forum burgee can just be a bum sticker provided by MBY. Or you can invent a new ethos.

I cant see anything special happening.

I don't understand the 'not just showing off' comment? Surely this is the very reason we fly the burgee - to show our 'membership' of this community. Curious.

After some thought, I think Henry does have a valid point about making the design a tad more easily recognisable. Keep the current colours but just enhance the existing graphic with bolder lines.

Hadyn don't take any of the posts in this thread as a personal attack on your efforts. We're all grateful of your past inputs.

I will come up with some ideas.

I have something in my head at the moment, just need a bit of help with the execution.

Rather than modify I'm going to start with a blank sheet of paper.

Will that make my Hayden original obsolete and therefore a collectable item, wonder what it will make on eBay?

I wouldn't fret too much about that, I think Henry has woken up bored due to the inclement weather curtailing his boating pleasure and he's turning his attentions to fishing for a bite from the long standing forum members instead :)
