Did it about three years ago. It is just about DIY, but requires careful planning. Curves are made up by gluing 'planks' with no caulking together to make a wide enough piece, then cutting to shape. You also need a lot of weights (lead ingots, preferably) to hold it down while the adhesive cures.
Tek-Dek have got a stand at the show, i had a quick look as the stand was mobbed, if you get the opportunity it is well worth a look. The standard of work was very high (as you would expect at the show) but i was impressed.
TekDek is great stuff to lay. But do make sure it is stuck down properly. Otherwise after a couple of years water might get under it. If you need a pro to lay it, I know a guy who does it. Send me an email I will get in touch with him for you. clive@hook1722.fsnet.co.uk
If you send them templates of the panels you want to make, then they will make up the material as it should be and send it to you. All you have to do is put it together as per the plan and stick it down.
What is it like to bare feet? I'm habitually barefoot aboard and like my cockpit carpets but they are getting shabby and SWMBO is attracted to teak/TekDek (if she doesn't have to lay the stuff). Might up the value too, if Brown loses the plot and taxes rocket.
It feels very good underfoot. It gets very hot (hotter than teak, I think) in the full sun, but that's not exactly often, and you cool it down with a bucket of water. As Talbot says, the grip gets better when it's wet, too.
