Syd\'s advice

Don't listen to Syd. He advised me to put six inch nails up from the water line every 6 inches as a cheap boarding ladder. His advice is wrong, you need at least 9 inch nails otherwise there isn't enough protruding to step on.

Excuse my ignorance of all things computer but how do you get you pics on the web site linked from your post. How far did you go up the Midi. We've just come back from Sete and Port Camargue and thought about doing same.

Cheers

Pictures are courtesy of boatones web site, you can post pictures there. Instructions are in the first frame, or PM B1.

Did whole length of Du midi, from where canal du Robinne meets it ( as we joined it at Pt Nouvelle) right up to the Garonne, absolutely brilliant!

Re: Syd\'s advice

Now I must contest you doubting my VERY sound advice.

Six inch GALVANISED nails inserted carefully and neatly with a four pound club hammer, from the waterline, in equally spaced increments, up to the gunnell, are not only an attractive talking point when in any marina, but a very cheap and practical way for a NORMAL sized person of up to around twenty five stone, to gain access to and from their vessel. Anyone of abnormal size and weight WILL require the nine inch modification. As indicated...

Another good idea for keeping pesky birds or windy's off of your boat, is to insert the nails into the headlining of your boat so the tips potrude a couple of inches from the cabin roof or sundeck. Very effective, practical and easy to DIY.
Trust me.... I'm a Docker..

Fat
Thats a very interesting concept worthy of practical experimentation. I'll be paying a moonlight visit to a certain Princess 435 in the near future and will keep you informed of the results.

Cheers now

Re: Syd\'s advice

I found that a pieces of stainless steel 10mm bar bent into the shape of a "Staple" with each end nicely crafted into a point, and then smacked into the side of the boat look loverly. Much smarter than the Heath Robinson solution posted hereabouts .....
