I would not dream of it. In fact I never "sun bath" If I have to work, sail or walk in the sun I cover up with hat and white colored long sleeve long legged clothing and sun screen. But always seek shade. Yes more than enough sun here and the dangers of skin cancer are very real at my age. Sun burn is very unpleasant.
Now a funny story that many years ago a senior man in our company had a boat and liked to sun bath naked. He did it discretely where he was not seen from shore. He went to sleep, sea breeze came in swung the boat so him in to public view. He was fined for indecent exposure.
Now I am not a prude as such. However society seems to have set up norms for dressing. I don't object to those norms. It is ok for a man to be topless at the beach or in a beach shop but not in a shopping mall. We have a "nude" beach near the city where nakedness is normal and fine. It is on the sea side of a an Army riffle range so owned by federal government and not subject to local council rules. A funny thing I saw once was an army soldier all kitted up trying to clear naked patrons from the beach as they wanted to shoot their riffles.
I wear a long sleeve shirt and hat when swimming and snokelling.
So I see more and more muslim women with head covered. I can imagine it is a culture in grained so they just can't uncover but a real contrast to the skimpy bikinis wore by many women.
So all very interesting. i just go with the flow. I don't want to stand out. ol'will

Would not dream of it nor would we encourage it - but then we live in skin cancer central. However the UK is not immune to skin cancer - I'd be cautious. Its one of those cancers that are unnecessary, can lie dormant for years - and take up time of the medical profession who have better things to do than attempt to correct stupidity. You would not smoke so why replace it with another cancer.

All the time in Europe, alas a lot less often in the Caribbean as they are American prudish.
Was quietly " told off" by an Aunt for allowing my 18 month old son to paddle while starkers on beach in Michigan in the 1980s.
Not done Buddy , nothing to do with cancer, simple prudery.
Many years ago , wonder if things have changed at all ? No me neither.

Test it....send your son back to Michigan and tell him to swim naked....see if they react

Dear Sirs
What the hell is it with naked bloody yachtsmen ?......are they attracted to sailing ?...is sailing some sort of mass perversion ?.....but every time I drop anchor, I’m guaranteed some old weather beaten couple (either two men or a man and woman) start throwing everything off and swim, frolic, shower in the altogether.
Annoyed
Tunbridge Wells
Point of order:
As a resident of said town I need to point out it is:
1. Disgusted of TW NOT Annoyed
2. The correct title is Royal Tunbridge Wells

Please be more respectful in the future.

Thank you 😁

There are many things my wife and I may or may not have done naked on deck but the terror I experienced in the Rias, noticing an elderly and some what "gravity enhanced" Spanish chap pulling up anchor with an electric windlass running just inches from his scrotum means that anchoring for me at least, will never be one of them

On this occasion,

Does NOT apply 😰

Over the many years I've boated .. I can only recall a couple of yotties 'bol***o' ..... and both were Mobo's in the Solent ...

But drifting a bit - when I sailed with Stenabulk .. we had a Scottish Master who used to sunbathe naked up at the forecastle of ship .. an obnoxious git as well !!
