Why don't they just collect all the little seahorses and move them to somewhre quieter?

Nice idea. Trouble is the real issue is the Eelgrass beds they live in, which are one of the best, and most thriving on the south coast, and this is what the Government conservationists really want conserved. Eelgrass is one of the best habitats around for a wide range of marine species and invertebrates, and this is what they really want to look after. Fishermen I have talked to right along the coast find them so regualrly they can not understand why they became protected, and why there is such a fuss in Studland.

And yes, I know, this is a turn round from needing to protect them from being damaged by our anchoring activity - and that view still holds, apparently. But Studland is now seen as one of the best, and needs to be kept that way.

Anywhere 'quieter' on the South Coast than Studland would probably also be as popular a place to anchor. The eelgrass and seahorses enjoy the same sheltered conditions as anchored boat owners.

Should we start an "Adopt a Seahorse scheme"?

Perhaps get SHT to administer it. They could catch our adopted animal every few months and send us a photo so that we could see how it was doing.

They probably thought you were old father Neptune trying to chat them up. :D

I doubt that they would spurn their God. They might have asked me to intervene on their behalf & get rid of the rubber clad pervs in Gimp suits that keep fondling & frightening them. :D

There is Scott Adams cartoon that shows a boss reprimanding his minion who had complained that he hadn't been told about something.

"I sent you thought waves, I know I sent them, so it must be that your brain just isn't receiving them correctly." :D

The little seahorses are thriving there, I think they like living where all the boats moor, I know in gardenning I have to divide clumps of some plants in order for them to develop, I dont know enough about Ealgrass but the areas of it seem to be increasing. I hope a solution is found such as the ecological mooring bouys so that there is still a safe haven for little boats.

Sshhh! Tell the fishermen to keep that quiet, or we will all be doomed, with MCZ's springing up everywhere.
