Having allowed a suitable period of nostalgic depression to pass ,whilst I wallowed in fond memories of my recently departed mistress. I have with suitable caution become the exceedingly happy owner of a Van der Stadt 40,
A couple of slight technical problems however, the question of fitting out the interior has to be tackled, wiring the electrics, etc.etc.and so on....Done it before on GRP ...BUT not on a steel hull.. Told that prior to fitting out advisable to have interior spray foamed .(Hull has been grit blasted and a superb paint job on the outside and epoxie coated on the inside to a full spec) ADVICE, (recomendations) as to who might be able to carry this out in N.Essex.
Also having taken note of recent disc. on tinned wiring etc. WHERE Available?
Obvious that I,m going to be off the water for a couple of years so I suspect that scuttlebut will have to make up for the annual saline content.

Thanks in anticipation...TW. (New Name subject to SWMBO "Highland Lass"
Sail Logo-: Kilted Young female Scots Person dancing on crossed claymores.

Congratulations on the purchase of the VDS..I had the 36'Seal version in steel... best yacht I have ever owned... now working out how to rob a bank to buy the 48" "Tasman " VDS..... ( steel of course)

No point in me recommending anywhere in UK.. I 'm in Gods own country ( Down Under) ..so cannot help .. nor should I comment on the departure of your mistress.... just be happy with the yacht.

Only two years.... you'll be lucky! There were three of us fitting out steel boats in the Brighton area, one managed a 33 footer in only four years and is already in the water. The other 33 footer has been at it for eight years and still has a way to go.... I have been doing a 39 footer for nearly six years and am nearly there, I will hopefully launch in about June next year..... You have a LOT of work ahead but it is worth it!

For foaming I used a guy called Paul Homer. He is a really nice guy, extremely conscientious and he did an excellent job at a very reasonable price. I think he is based in Glastonbury but he does travel far and wide. He has a website at ....www.insulationsprayfoam.co.uk

As for tinned wire, Ancor stuff is starting to become available over here. It is certainly available in Brighton Marina. 'Bit pricey but as a part of the overall cost it is a drop in the ocean.....

'Best of luck Tony, it's a steep learning curve and your new mistress will become a total way of life!

Paul.

I see - so the name is subject to SWMBO's approval but the logo isn't! And have you OK'd it with "Claymore"? Congratulations anyway, Van de Stadt designs are superb.
