SSR Numbers

I have just bought a Corribee 21 and on the deck is a SSR number...what is this number and what does it relate to?

I presume it is the Ship to Shore Radio Number but does that mean that a call sign is asigned to the vessel and should i quote this number when i get a radio licence?

This is the number allocated to the boat on the Small Ships Register. It has nothing to do with call signs. If you have just bought the boat you should register yourself as the new owner. I think you can do this on-line these days.
