:) ... great ... wellcome - sry we do not have chauffeur avec Bentley - and boarding would be around Genova. You are free to bring your favorite beer, Prosecco is free on board. You just have to pay for fuel during our fun and crazy cruise ... All fun and good spirit is wellcome - but all insurance and responsibility is up to you. For fuel we charge you around 10 euros/L ... :) ... and sorry, we do not have black friday sales.

Seastoke is winding you up. And I don’t think you are taking this seriously - drop the ad-hoc under-the-radar charter idea.

I seem to recall you cannot charge your friends or family an up front amount. You could go shopping and split the bill, you can book into a marina and split the berthing fees and at the end of the trip you can ask for a share of the fuel you used. You cannot guess the above and charge a lump sum before departure.
I don’t believe that is a hard and fast rule, but it’s a sensible guiding principle as to the difference between how friends typically divide costs versus business relationships operate. There would, to my understanding, be no issue with me saying to my two mates - let’s go away for a long weekend I expect we will use 30L of fuel, 3 nights berthing, food and drink, fuel for the car to get there - so say £70 a head, and I’m a bit skint this month so could you chip in to the kitty up front. Ideally if we actually used less fuel or spent a night on anchor you’d divide the surplus kitty back up but there’s no expectation that you keep actual accounts, because it should be so obvious they type of relationship without needing a forensic analysis of profit and loss.

In a world where a lot of these conversations probably take place by email and WhatsApp etc it becomes very hard to make a conversation that was not a friendship look like one afterwards! FWIW I never split those costs with friends, often one of them will drive to the boat, they might bring the food or the beer, or pay for dinner in the bar etc but these are gestures not charges. Regulators know full well how normal friendships work.

I suspect you are just joking - but regulators are smart enough to know that sort of trick. They won’t tolerate you profiting on fuel, and they won’t like your insurance comment either and just mention of Black Friday sales sounds like a commercial operation. Beware, if something tragic was to happen on your boat, they will dig back through social media trying to find proof your were knowingly bending the rules. What you have written is potentially incriminating!

I hope you get the point - and you can distinguish betweeen joke and reality! My language ist German - or better Swiss German: My English writing is not the best and comes out of my brain - not from any silly AI system ... ... or dumb translator.
