Splicing

For some strange reason that I can't explain, I'm interested in learning how to eye splice rope. Although I can find instructions on splicing three strand rope, does anyone have any idea where I can get beginners instructions on four strand and eight strand (ie a pair of strands to each of the four)

Please bear in mind that I am an absolute beginner so I'm looking for very simple instruction. (ps I think I've got all the right tools, it's just the instrictions I'm after)

Jimmy Green includes some directions for splicing within their catalogue (and also buried in their web site) If you buy a marlowe splicing kit, it should include a guide for most common rope splices. There is some excellent advice from <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.briontoss.com/>here</A>
