Hi all
now that 'Lady Anna' is safely on her way to me here in the sun (Goa)
i have started looking around for insurance for usage in waters here

my current insurance with navigators and general does not cover usage in west coast india and maldives and they have no experience in insuring british flagged vessels in these waters(same is the case with the other uk insurers i called)

Indian insurance companies have no clue abt pleasure craft and as such need the asset to be registered in india before they would consider the risk
(registering in india would be another nightmare due to the lack of regulation on pleasure yacht ownership)

anyone know of any specialised company or broker who would be able to help in these special circumstances?

best to all

Try Pantaenius?. They had a big stand at the monaco show t'other week offering superyacht cover, which go round the world, so they must cover your area

Other insurers were there to but I forget all the names. Was too busy having a tour of the Wallypower, including full crawl around the engine room (3 gas turbines), yum yum

Never sure about spelling of pantaenius?? We use them for our boat, they seem ok.

tried pantaenius and they cant seem to offer it
any other ideas?
my band of theives(lawyers ha ha) have come up with a complex bareboat charter agreement that may just abt clear the requirement of the indian insurers
however i am concerned in event of a claim there might be something they missed
it is my only option at the mo though
looks like you had a fine time at monaco ...any pics?

When I was looking (finally went with Pantaenius as boat ended up in the uk - excellent to date) I was at one stage put onto TL Dallas 01274 465565 (stewart riches) by some friends who broker marine insurance in the City.

I seem to recall that they do the big lux stuff in far away places.....

Failing that why not call a couple of the bigger charter outfits in Boat International and seek advice.

Would be interested in how you get on for future ref.

hi.

I use DNA Recreass, based in amsterdam. Good value, no nonsense. Dutch east indies (?) history surely means they must be able to quote? Bianca van Borg (?) is a contact there.
