Fantastic Pics of what looks like a great trip. It was great to meet you all in Mahon. This has been great for me as you all know I am about to embark on the same voyage. So a big thank you especialy to Hurricane. I have learnt a lot from your posts and experiences on what to expect.

I plan now to depart Poole around 25th May Boats nearly ready.

Rickp. I havent forgot the challenge for the "Blue Ribon" to see Africa within 5 days of leaving England /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif. I want to win that pint. Don't think I can do a post as good as yours so I wont even try but I will maybe post a few pics. "First today" boat nearly ready to go final part of build.

Cheers for now Gskip

Rick, no need for a warning with us lot. Picture posts are always best, worth a 1,000 words etc.

You seem to have the hang of writing these up now, excellent post and makes you kinda wish you were there.

I must say I'm looking forward to seeing that 'bloo' water in the lagoon. I'm pretty sure Mike will want to go back there before leaving. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Thanks for putting this up, we've all enjoyed it now. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Great post! Thanks Rick - we know it takes ages to put together a report like that, so it's much appreciated. Pictures of Valetta Harbour and blue lagoon were stunning. Looked like a great trip. Where next for JW?

But know what its like. If folk had a clue as to the work that goes in to make a respectable post or video on these fora, maybe they ed put a bit more effort in themselves. You don't have to be rich. To put effort in. But maybe the Rich put more effort in.

Dockyard creek - where they put the biggies. Derek thinks this should be given a name with more bling!

Crikey, looking at the Tridec in the foreground, those at the rear must be massive! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Any idea of size?

The broadside-on white yacht is an old (ish) Palmer Johnson called Shubra 2. (It has quite distinct window profile). Google says it is 59.5m

The next one back with the navy hull is a Benetti but can't see enough to tell which. Like Jo, but there are several in that series. 50m series though.

The ketch at the back is Southwind, a Jongert. I can't work that out from the pic but it's somewhat peremanently based there and I saw it the last time I was there. Google says 41.6m

I'd score that dive at about 9.5. There's a particularly nice symmetry in the angle of the feet.

I hear Tom Daley is looking for a new partner for London 2012. rickp must be in the running.

Hah. Feet not together, cardinal sin.

Anyway, 'cos you've all been nice, here are some more from the Blue Lagoon and Crystal Lagoon:

And you can get through here in the dinghy with never less than 4m depth.....

And finally, Poweryacht:

(I did take over 5GB of images, so taking forever to select, straighten, white balance, pimp, preen, etc....)

Well written and illustrated, informative and interesting; brilliant.

The panorama's are excellent I'd be interested in what software you used for those.

Thanks /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Main camera is a Nikon D200, 18-200VR lens with UV and polarising filters. Some were taken with a Canon Powershot SD900 (which did the videos too).

Manipulation/sorting/rating/uploading done in Aperture, stitching was done in Photoshop.

See......

Easy isnt it?

/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Seriously though djefabs and I gave up taking our own pics once we had seen the results that Rick was getting. The ones I did actually take were not a patch on Ricks.
