We are refitting a 22ft Kestrel & need a quantity of 5/8" raised head chrome brass screws. Having trawled the web we are still searching. Any ideas out there please ?

It says 6 x = 41p

It's 41p each, brass screws can be an eyewatering price, and these are chrome plated.
Cheaper to buy ss raised head self tappers, from say, Seascrew or the local chandler.
The no. 6 refers to the screw gauge.

Why not use stainless raised head screws, readily available and relatively inexpensive with no riske of dezincification

You could try the local 'real' Ironmongers, steel stock holders or find where the local joiners get their stock from. Cheaper than any swindlery or B&Q type rip off place.

Take Maxi77's advice and use stainless. Brass screws have no place on a boat, for the reason he states. I agree that stainless doesn't have quite the same appearance as chrome, but most people wouldn't recognise the difference, and you'll have the satisfaction of knowing that you can get them out again without shearing them all off.

Check them with a magnet first. A lot of so called 'brass' in diy stores is actually brass plated steel.
