So who else has managed to get into St Kats over the Jubilee ?

Bit of a quandary, if not in the pageant wont go by boat, if in the pageant it will all be booked up:-)
Waiting and seeing.

Yes, booked in. Having done the pageant rehearsal I am not convinced St Kats will be the ideal place to be though. It will be much easier to muster from the other end of the course.

My intentions, if selected, revolve around Limehouse or South Dock, less scrum than St Kats, a LOT cheaper and less of an issue over locking times. Going back above Teddington or to Imperial Wharf is also not ruled out. As I may have Burma Star veterans on board much may depend on their needs.

Booked in for 4 days so looking forward to that. Have logged in for the pageant but not too sure if SWMBO could handle the melle. Safer in St Kats and have a good view. I hope.:) Perhaps those going in on the !st should meet up.............at Tedders ????

I think you are spot on. Even with 20 boats it was difficult. The water will be bouncy and have St Kats even figured out how to take so many boats in within their window? 1000 boats need somewhere to go. I think the Olympic moorings or doing exactly what Andrew says (or a mixture of the two) are the right option. I do not know the order of the flotilla yet, but we really struggled punching the tide back in Ex Libris and I would dread to do it with many faster boats behind me and yet more boats coming ahead of me. I am making personal arrangements on the tideway. It will be bouncy but I will be away from the mayhem.

Hopefully a strict speed limit will be in force for the day, which will include absolutely everyone.
So apart from the natural turbulence caused by the narrowness of the river and the tide going over the bottom, things should be a great deal smoother than normal.Thnik that any boats coming in from the tidal end may have a better time of it that you lot arriving from the west.
Are they going to use Gallions.West India and South Dock as holding locations ?
As well as St Kats, the weeny lock at South Dock will def. be a pinch point.

Good point on speed limits, indeed I wonder if it is worth raising that directly with the organisers as it could make a significant difference to the passage plans of a lot of the participants. To be useful it would need to apply to River police ribs and ClipperSkippers alike, not just private boats, a blanket 4 knots from Wandsworth to Greenland Pier unless an emergency vessel with twos and blues running.

The set speed limit was one of the problems in the rehearsal for the formation itself. Too slow for many boats to move at under control... and then too hard for the slower boats to catch up with the faster boats when they spurted forwards.

Coming back against the tide it would have been a blessing though. RIBs in particular were quite a hazard with so many of us bobbing about. The RNLI RIB was nearly as bad as the thrill-seeking one!

I quite agree, although , as I understand it, no-one yet knows the content of the flotilla, surely sail boats, row boats , CANOES !!!!! sculls, how about a submarine for good measure ?? It does sound like a recipie for disaster. What about the floating peel of bells ! A lot of joined up thinking is required.

The pagent, from what I can gather, the river will be closed to all traffic on the day. There will be all sorts of craft, notice to mariners of rehersal for barges recently, row boats and canoes etc.. This is why we had to travel at 4 knots through the water. As for the peel of bells, that has taken part in the Mayor's Thames festival with no problems, a little to noisey perhaps. I have only had confirmation of the river closure, the rest is suposition from information and PLA notice to mariners. So don't quote me.
