To the America’s Cup boats that didn’t win.In the old days they could be still be used for cruising

Not sure many old AC boats have been used for cruising - one of the first metal AC boats apparently fizzed itself away very rapidly due to ignorance of the dissimilar metals corrosion issues.

A handful of J Class survived, as houseboats? A few of the less extreme 12 metres got converted - is it Sceptre still sailing around UK waters?
Not sure any since then. Doubt the IAC class would have been any use post event. Nor would the foiling cats make good cruisers, though they have been reborn as a racing class. And there is a huge monohull as a shore sculpture in Auckland..

Hopefully there will be some new teams being formed for the next cup, and hopefully these boat will be sold to the new teams for them to practice on while they develop their race boats.

It would be great to see another 2 or 3 teams next time around.

Sceptre is sitting in Gloucester Docks, outside Nielson's yard, maybe waiting for the dry dock.

We were berthed next to her in Gunwharf in September 2019 and I think she appeared in Gloucester not long after.

The12 metre Victory was parked in Burnham yacht harbour a few years back. is it still sailing. She went round to the south coast for a 12 metre regatta, I believe. Owned by a chap with a ski shop from Battlesbridge. Forget his name, but he also owned a Baraccuda.( Gum boots???)

All the while AC challengers were expected to sail to the race location, you had a decent sea boat with accommodation. Now they're just oversized dinghies, and about as suitable for family cruising as a Moth is for taking Granny for a trip round the harbour. Not even any use for racing round the cans unless you've got a seriously skilled crew and DEEEEEEEEP pockets.

Shocking isn’t it. After all, Formula 1 cars are so convenient as a family runabout and going to the shops.

Yes they were, I think they were the French boats
The boats pictured are not F1&2, but the boats from the GBR challenge of 2002. The challenge folded before the 2007 cup, but they did use the hanger for one hell of a party at Cowes week 2004 if my memory serves me correctly...

To actually answer the question. In this case it seems very likely that the AC75 will be retained, in some form at least, for the next cup. In which case the current boats will have a life in developing the next generation of boats, and developing crew work etc until the next generation are launched. Whether that is with the same team or another, new, team.

There is a bare hull of what looks like a twelve meter yacht moored in Southampton Water off Hythe. Does anyone know what she is?

I recall some wit (tho' I can't remember who) suggesting when Australia II was launched in 1982, that at least if the bid were unsuccessful, Bondy could melt her down to make tinnies for Swan Lager (Alan Bond had bought the Swan Brewery in Perth in 1981).
