At the request of FullCircle and with thanks to Lensman for the photos and to all the forumites who helped I give you a slideshow of the day the Fourm showed its true colours.

Clive, many thanks for posting this.

I vote that the working day to help clean up Sirenia was the Forums highlight of 2008.

Which just goes to show its not all about social events, although we did manage to have an excellent do at Levington afterward.

PS, I have still got your (cleaned, that'll be a pound) 160th Dartmouth Regatta sweatshirt, which I will pass on with the rope pile when I see you.

Thanks for finding the sweatshirt.
I had wondered where that had gone.
I also owe you a sleeping bag that you kindly lent Emma following our interesting return from Ostend and was still on board Sirenia when she decided to play submarines.

If sir would PM us a delivery address we will see what we can do.

(change of plan - Delivery will occur on collection of rope heap)

Thanks for the inquiry.

I have been a bit busy with the UK round of the World Rally Championship.
Back home now and starting to get on with things.

Today we have been to collect a new set of Upholstery from EastCoastBernie.
They fit just fine thanks Bernie, can't wait to get the wrappings of and use them for real.
(Photos when that happens)

We have also carried out a test on the repair to the keelbox by sealing up the bottom of the box and filling it with water to a foot higher that the normal level.
No leak detected. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The big job at the moment is striping of the sandtex paint that someone used on her decks.
This is proving to be a long job.
I ordered some more paint striper 2+ weeks ago but have not received it yet.
Going to take a trip to Fox's tomorrow to see if they have any in their sale.

If a group want to get together to help scraping I would be most grateful.

I had a feeling that might be the job needing some assistance, have you tried a hot air gun or is it definately a manual job with mucky stuff all over ?. Not sure if I can make it this side of the dreaded xmas, but if a few others want to volunteer services maybe we can fix a date for a weekend invasion. Many hands make light work, and all that, so a good crew could have the decks clear quite fast. Anyone else up for it ?.

Tried a hot air gun.
Started to blow the gelcoat off.
This is in an area that needs some resin work anyway so no big issue.

Using Dilunett gel stripper.
2.5 ltr has shifted about 10% and turned another 25% to a softish sand paint mix that will scrap off at about 1 ft square an hour.
a 2nd thick coat left on for a few days will shift most of it.
This is going to be a long job or an expensive one
