There is a sunken Oil tanker about 140 kilometers from Singapore and about 70 kilometers from the Malay coast. It has a forward house and an after house and is about 540 feet long with a single tall stack. Equipment plates from electronics have dates from 1947 so it is not a war wreck

The ship is sitting upright on the bottom with a large blast hole in the engine room. The plates are bent out indicating an internal explosion. Many areas of the ship show blast damage also

There is no record of this ship having sunk in any of the normal sources anywhere near this.

Any ideas on how to find out more?

Hi Brooksjacobs,
since 2000 there been few tanker hijacket in this area.you can contact the anti piracy info center in Kuala Lumpur or get in contact with the S'pore marine department or the malaysian counterpart. Last not least the US NAVY is also be interrestet;they have contact addresses in S'pore too.
As I figure out you have been down there diving.Way not make a picture of the wreck.
Or better all vessels have a number on the mainengine find the number or may there is a shipsbell still attached on the forcastle or on one side on the wheelhouse, most on starboard side. All vessels bells have the vessel name on.
