Sometimes on amazon you will see also available from other suppliers, or at other prices. This can often be something that has been returned so the package might have been opened...you get full rights of return and guarantee etc but at a good discount. Stuff is usually perfect..

The reason E bay, Amazon and Online Retailers are cheaper than real shops is that they are most probably "drop shopping."

They take your order, pass it to their wholesaler, who packs it and sends it out to you, they don't have to tie up capital in inventory, or have expensive warehousing. It cuts out one layer of transportation and handling. They are "Fulfillment Centres," they get a cut of the transaction.

They need know nothing about what you need or be able to give advice on your purchases. Though better online marine chandlers may have some product knowledge. One local chandler has bought out an online chandler presumably to future proof their business.
